24 seconds with Emanuel Sandhu
BOB MACKIN -- 24 Hours Vancouver

Vancouver-based figure skater Emanuel Sandhu begins his quest for gold tomorrow when he performs his short program at Palavela.

24 hours: What's on your iPod these days?

Sandhu: I just downloaded a few from the newest Depeche Mode album; James Blunt, he's from England; Ladytron, which is electro pop from Liverpool; and of course the newest Madonna CD, because it's amazing. I'm always constantly downloading, I need that aural stimulation. A huge part of my life is dance and it's a career I want to transition into after my skating career winds down. I want to record, I want to be a performer, I can dance and I can sing.

24 hours: How are you approaching these Olympics?

Sandhu: The most important thing for me is to take it one day at a time. It would be the worst thing for me to get overwhelmed and wanting to be perfect, I want to be as ready as I can be, but the most important thing is letting go and relaxing and trying to make each day count.

24 hours: Have you visited Torino before?

Sandhu: I love Italy, it's an amazing country, and I'm hoping the weather will be nice. When we went there it was charming and romantic. When I'm there I'm going to be focused on my job then afterwards I can see little more.
