SUN Prediction: Sixth
By Sun Media

On the face of it, it would be ridiculous to suggest Emanuel Sandhu is a legitimate medal contender at the Olympics.

His world championship history includes not making the qualifying cut the first time out, 18th, ninth, eighth, eighth and seventh.

But there's one thing everybody in figure skating knows. If the guy who is like the little girl with the curl -- very, very bad or very, very good -- ever gets it together, he could win gold.

Some go as far as to suggest his ability ranks up there with anybody in the sport. He just never gets it together. Okay, not never. There was that one magical, mystical Grand Prix final in 2003 when the Toronto-born, Richmond Hill-raised skater coached by Joanne McLeod did get it all together. He won the gold.

He also won Canadian titles in 2001, 2003 and 2004.

His monumental meltdowns, however, are legendary. A missed early jump followed by a string of popped jumps and half-hearted attempts until his music finally ends. As a rule, it's the short program which does Sandhu in. He really hasn't had a great one since the 2003 Grand Prix. But the long programs, many of them, have been outstanding
