Jeff Gordon laid down a near perfect record lap in the final qualifying session for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Cheez-It 355 on Saturday at Watkins Glen International at 68.126 seconds with a speed of 129.466 mph.

It should not have come as a surprise as Gordon is having a near perfect season in the No 24 Hendrick Motorports Chevrolet to go with his perfect children Leo and Ella and his perfect wife Ingrid.

All this on top of a perfect week where he and Ingrid danced at the White House with U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

Oh yes, and Saturday was also Leo’s fourth birthday.

A win on Sunday, of course, might sound greedy, but Gordon will take it anyway.

Life is, to say the least, good for the four-time Sprint Cup champion these days.

Just like Saturday, winning the pole on his son’s birthday.
