INDIANAPOLIS - Jeff Gordon’s racing career has been chock full of superlatives, from his four NASCAR Sprint Cup championships to his fifth Brickyard 400 win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday.

Gordon also has three Daytona 500 wins, six wins at Talladega and 90 wins overall in his 22-year Cup career.

Not bad for a kid from California who grew up wanting to race IndyCars.

Gordon's heroes were not Richard Petty, or Junior Johnson, or Dale Earnhardt; his heroes were Rick Mears, A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti and Bobby Unser.
