A caution when Kurt Busch had a tire failure with two laps to go at Texas Motor Speedway forced the Duck Commander 500 into overtime on Monday but didn’t stop Joey Logano from taking the checkered flag in the No. 22 Penske Racing Ford.
Logano became the seventh different winner in the first seven races of the 2014 Sprint Cup season.
The record is 10 set in 2000.
Logano had taken four fresh tires on the final pit stop and that was the difference on this day as Jeff Gordon and the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet team gambled with two tires but couldn’t hold off Logano on the final lap.
