All is fair in love, war and apparently between teammates in Formula 1.

Lewis Hamilton won for Mercedes at the Sakhir circuit on Sunday in the Bahrain Grand Prix, but not before eviscerating his teammate Nico Rosberg, not once, not twice but three times over the 57 laps of the race.

Rosberg had started from the pole and immediately moved across the track to block Hamilton — who started second — going into Turn1.

Hamilton held his ground and came back across to snooker Rosberg in Turn 4 on a brilliant overtaking move.

That was only the beginning of their battle, it got better as the race wound down.

With six laps to go and Rosberg on what was thought to be better tires — the soft compound yellows — and Hamilton on the harder whites, it seemed inevitable that Rosberg would get by.

And he tried at almost every corner of every lap.

It was only the dazzling driving by Hamilton that kept Rosberg in second place.
