Near the end of the 2012 season talk in and around the Sprint Cup garage area was that Joey Logano’s career had plateaued.

In the previous three seasons at Joe Gibbs Racing driving the No. 20 Toyota, Logano had but one Cup win and there were hints he wasn’t very popular among his teammates.

A move to Penske Racing and the No. 22 Ford last season, however, appears to have rejuvenated his career.

He had more top five finishes, 11, than in the previous two seasons combined, and he was best buds with new teammate Brad Keselowski.

Logano’s success appears to have followed him this season with a fourth-place result last week at Phoenix and a pole position Sunday for the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

He seems, too, to have a better understanding than most on how the Generation 6 race car will act on Sunday.
