Canada’s largest and most prestigious motorsports showcase — the Canadian Motorsports Expo — opens its doors Feb. 8-10 at the Toronto’s International Centre.
And the biggest news at the show is expected to be that Alex Tagliani, the 2011 Indianapolis 500 pole sitter, will unveil his new race car and his plans for a return to stock car racing in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
The last time Tagliani found himself on the outside looking in at the IndyCar series was the 2008 season.
The Montreal native, rather than sit at home and feel sorry for himself, went out and got himself a ride in the then-fledgling Canadian Tire Series.
It was there, by winning at the Edmonton Indy driving the No. 7 Dave Jacombs Racing Ford, that Tagliani showed IndyCar owners he was still capable of high-level performances.
Well, with the IndyCar series just a month and a half away from the start of its 2014 season Tagliani is, once again, without a seat in the open wheel loop.
