Two big deals involving Canada’s James Hinchcliffe and Andretti Autosport are expected to be announced over the next 48 hours.
The first one is that Hinchcliffe is expected to formalize a new contract to stay in the IndyCar series driving the No. 27 Andretti machine for two more years.
The second one is that Andretti is expected to switch manufacturers from Chevrolet to Honda starting next season.
Andretti officials issued a release on Friday saying the team will announce a new primary sponsor for the No. 27 squad on Saturday at the final race of the season at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.
Team owner Michael Andretti had said earlier he wanted Hinchcliffe back in that car next season but was waiting to find a full sponsorship package to take over from GoDaddy.com, who had previously indicated it was leaving IndyCar.
And in a conversation with Hinchcliffe last week he told me he was close to making a decision on his future plans.
