James Hinchcliffe describes his 2013 IZOD IndyCar season as like being on a roller coaster — one minute you are at the top of the ride and the next minute you’re at the bottom.

Don’t get him wrong, he loves the speed and excitement of a roller coaster, he just wishes the time at the top was longer than the time at the bottom.

And from a race-winning perspective this past season has been spectacularly successful — he has three wins and four podium finishes — but it is the six races with a 20th or worse finish that kept him from contending for a championship in, this, his second full IndyCar season.

Hinchcliffe was in Toronto on Wednesday to catch up with his family in Oakville and do some media interviews.

We met at Starbucks on Bloor and talked about his season and what is next for the 26-year-old who is at the end of his contract with Andretti AutoSport in the high profile No. 27 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet.
