William Shakespeare said it best a couple of centuries ago when he penned: “Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive.”

It is something that the folks at Michael Waltrip Racing might consider in the growing scandal that centres on allegations that Clint Bowyer deliberately spun his No. 15 MWR Toyota with eight laps left in Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway in order to get teammate Martin Truex Jr. into the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship ahead of Ryan Newman in the No. 39 Stewart Haas Racing Chevrolet.
