BOWMANVILLE, ONT. - James Buescher claimed the pole for the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chevrolet Silverado 250 Saturday before a record crowd at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park estimated at more than 40,000.
Buescher, the reigning NCWTS champion, lapped the 3.957- km Grand Prix road course in one minute 21.074 seconds, or 109.890 m.p.h., in the No. 31 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet.
It was Buescher’s second pole of the 2013 season.
The 23-year-old native of Plano, Tex., is also one of four Truck series regulars who is doing double duty — racing in both the NCWTS and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series — this weekend.
Buescher said he was surprised that he was able to get going so much faster in the truck right after qualifying only 17th in the Canadian Tire No. 24 Scott Steckly Racing machine.
