On the front of pole-sitter Dario Franchitti’s bright red race suit are symbols that relay the message “Target Loves Canada.”

Not sure native sons James Hinchcliffe and Alex Tagliani would make the same claim, especially after their poor qualifying efforts on Friday.

While Target Racing’s Franchitti will start on the pole for the fifth time in Toronto when the green flag drops on Honda Indy Race No. 1 at the CNE Grounds on Saturday afternoon, you’ll have to look well back in the field to find the Canuck contingent on the grid.

Frustration was the common feeling among the two members of IndyCar’s Canadian Connection, and rightly so.
