It may be only the fourth race of the of 2013 Formula 1 season, but it looks as if Lewis Hamilton has already silenced critics of his move from McLaren to Mercedes at the end of last season.

On Saturday the former world champion put his new team — with Canada’s Blackberry as a new sponsor — on the pole for Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix at Shanghai.

Hamilton’s lap of one minute, 34.484 seconds was almost three-tenths faster than Kimi Raikkonen who will start of the outside of row one for Lotus on a lap of 1:34.761.
