Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup NRA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway has raised more than a few eyebrows in the sporting world and it has nothing to do with the action on the 1.5-mile oval.

It has everything to do with the TMS decision to sell the naming rights to the event to the National Rifle Association.

While it may mean next to nothing in this country, in the United States the NRA is a de facto political party disguised as a lobbying group for gun owners.
