The headline in The Sporting News was “Jimmie Johnson has his swagger back” — and that is bad news for 42 other NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers.

Johnson’s dominating victory — he started on the pole and led 346 of 500 laps in the STP Gas Booster 500 at Martinsville Speedway — signalled that after two years away from the stock car championship of the world, the tag team of Johnson and crew chief Chad Knaus were back and taking aim at a sixth crown.

It was the way he got the victory at the half-mile Martinsville oval that said more than anything else that Johnson and the No. 48 Chevrolet team have their mojo back.
