There was just one yellow flag — on the first lap of 90 laps of racing — to mar Sunday’s Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama.

And 89 laps later Ryan Hunter-Reay emerged as the winner of the second IZOD IndyCar Series event of the 2013 season.

Unlike the first race two weeks ago won by Canada’s James Hinchcliffe in a parade of Chevrolets — six of the top seven finishes were from the Bow-Tie garage — Honda battled back at Barber Motorsports Park with Scott Dixon finishing second, Charlie Kimball fourth and Simon Pagenaud fifth.

The power balance may have been back, but Hunter-Reay’s No. 1 Andretti AutoSport Chevrolet team was clearly the class of the grid.

Starting from the pole Hunter-Reay was only really challenged a few time before ending the race with a .63 seconds gap over runner-up Scott Dixon.
