Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was supposed to prove that the Generation 6 car was racier than the previous car.

In my estimation it was, but not enough — in baseball terms it was a stand-up up double while NASCAR was hoping for a home run.

And Las Vegas represented a venue — a 1.5-mile intermediate track — where more than a third of Cup races will be held this season.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe Matt Kenseth was full value for his win in the No. 20 Toyota.
