TORONTO - Ron Fellows is certain that the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park will attract a full grid of 36 trucks on Labour Day Weekend.
The historic track’s co-owner also thinks that the field will be chock full of top Canadian talent when the race goes Sept. 1 at the Grand Prix road course.
Fellows, who took part in a question-and-answer session at the Canadian Motorsports Expo at the Toronto International Centre, said there is even talk that Jacques Villeneuve — Canada’s only Formula 1 champion — has expressed interest in racing in the Trucks on the 3.96-km track.
It is expected Toronto’s Paul Tracy, the 2003 Champ Car World Series champion, will also seek a ride for the race.
And Fellows said he has been inundated with calls from Truck series regulars asking him about the track.
