James Hinchcliffe rarin' to go at Daytona
Looking to 24 Hours at Daytona to erase bad taste from Fontana finish

The winter off-season for James Hinchcliffe has gone on too long already.

The 26-year-old native of Oakville is itching to get back behind the wheel of a race car and Saturday’s start of the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona GRAND-AM sports car race can’t come soon enough.

His last race in North America was more than four months ago when the IZOD IndyCar Series championship was decided at California’s Auto Club Speedway in the No. 27 Andretti Autosport Chevrolet — a bittersweet moment that saw Hinchcliffe finish in what was for him a disappointing 12th place, while his Andretti teammate Ryan Hunter-Reay claimed the season ending trophy.

“Fontana feels like a lifetime ago,” Hinchcliffe said this week. “I think that since that race was a bad one for us, it makes the off-season even longer.”
