Danica takes a 'shine' to her car
By DREW McNULTY, QMI Agency
Danica Patrick nearly talked herself into NASCAR trouble on Friday when she told a story about one of the best gifts she ever got for Christmas. Patrick said that last year her husband, Paul Hospenthal, surprised her when he bought her the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet she had driven in the final race at Homestead in 2010. She told the media that she loves the car and, in fact, keeps it in her garage at her Phoenix home and hardly ever lets anyone else sit in it. But Patrick said she was having a house party recently in which some “adult beverages” were being consumed and before long her guests, particularly her former IZOD IndyCar teammate Marco Andretti, wanted to check out the car. So she agreed, but only under one condition. “Now don’t get me in trouble, because I don’t know if this is legal,” she said. “We told everyone they could go in the garage and see the hot rod, but they had a take a shot of moonshine first. I thought it was such a NASCAR thing to do.” |
