Indy Saturday greeted by sun
By DEREK VAN DIEST, QMI Agency

It’s game on at the Edmonton Indy.

On Saturday, IndyCar drivers awoke to sunny skies and will hit the track for a pair of practice sessions prior to qualifying.

Due to heavy rain on Friday, all practice sessions were cancelled, forcing organizers to jam in as much as possible Saturday.

The Indy Lights got the day started with their first practice session of the weekend. Local rookie driver Stefan Rzadzinski made his debut in the series driving for Davey Hamilton Racing.

He will take part in his first Indy Light’s race (1:45 p.m.) Saturday.

Following the Indy Lights, the IndyCars will take to the circuit for the first time. They will have a second practice session before qualifying begins (3:30 p.m.) this afternoon.

Saturday's forecast shows a 70% chance of rain and a high of 19C.

The Edmonton Indy goes Sunday (1 p.m.) at the City Centre Airport.

Do you think Chad Johnson can still play at a high level in the NFL?
Yes, he is a talented receiver
No, he is too old to play
CFL might be a better option
