BRISTOL, Tenn. — It was generally believed that Danica Patrick’s second go-around trying to juggle two radically different forms of racing — NASCAR and IndyCar — would be quieter this season.

She was mobbed by the media at every NASCAR Nationwide race she entered in 2010, but by the end of the year the excitement was muffled by her also-ran performances in the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet.

This season she has come out and radically upped her game, culminating in a fourth place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway two weeks ago that broke a half-century old record for a female driver.

Since then she has gone back to IndyCar where she has been testing with her Andretti Autosport team in preparation for next week’s season-opener at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

It will be interesting to see if she can jump back in a stock car on Saturday in the Scotts EZ Seed 300 and get the same kind of results she’s had in the first three races of the season.

As for Patrick, she hasn’t hinted one way or the other what she’ll do next season when her contracts with NASCAR and IndyCar are both up for renewal.
