MONTREAL ≠-- Now that his feet can touch the pedals, 11-year-old Lance Stroll of Montreal is ready to take the racing world by storm.
Stroll has signed with the Ferrari Driver Academy, the youngest driver to ever be welcomed into the prestigious program, based in Maranello, Italy.
"He is very young, but he has already demonstrated his enormous potential," said Luca Baldisserri, who runs Ferrari's youth program. "We'll follow him during his next few races in North America and soon we will see him in Maranello."
The young prodigy has two championship wins under his belt already in karting's Canadian Rotax Mini Max category, and he finished sixth in the final World Lonato in 2009.
Stroll was named driver of the year in 2009 and Rookie of the Year in 2008 by the Federation of Quebec motorsport.
His love of cars comes honestly --≠ Stroll is the youngest son of millionaire Lawrence Stroll, who owns Le Circuit race track in Mont-Tremblant, Que., and is a known collector of Ferraris.
