MONTREAL -- Canadian race car driver Jacques Villeneuve might be seeking more than a new Formula One ride.

"I've been divorced for a month," the former F1 world champ told Sun Media yesterday. "It's not war, otherwise people would have known much sooner."

Villeneuve, 38, who has two young children, was calm when talking about the decision to end his marriage.

"We don't always know what we're waiting for in life," he said. "Sometimes events force us to turn the page ... We are divorced, not separated. I want to be precise."

Villeneuve is hoping he can race in Montreal again, if the city gets its Grand Prix back.

"I have to prioritize -- my kids, who love cars like their dad, and finding myself a Formula One car for the next season. I'm putting all of my energy into that. It's harder than I thought. But I'm confident that I'll have a car for the return of the Grand Prix to Montreal."
