The mystery of the missing team owner was solved yesterday when Speed-TV's Robin Miller tracked down Chip Ganassi, the boss at Ganassi Racing.

Ganassi hadn't been seen at an Indy Racing league event for about a month and the rumour mill was full of dire stories about the Pennsylvania entrepreneur's health.

But Miller found Ganassi at his home in Pittsburgh recovering from eye surgery that had been performed at the famed Mayo Clinic.

"The reason I'm not at the races is because they put drops in my eye and it's dilated all the time," Ganassi said. "The issue is that if I go out in the sun, my brain goes goofy because my one eye wants to stay open. That's why I'd have a better chance at going to a night race."

Ganassi also took the opportunity to quash the rumours about the overall state of his health.

"Calm everybody down and tell them I'm fine," he said. "Thanks to my computer, I haven't missed anything except the people."

Bourdais out of F-1

Former Honda Indy Toronto winner Sebastien Bourdais is apparently out of a job in Formula One.

The 30-year-old four-time champion of the defunct Champ Car World Series, was fired after yesterday's German Grand Prix race at Nurburgring, according to RACER magazine,.

Bourdais has struggled with the Toro Rosso team since joining the Austrian-based squad at the beginning of the 2008 F-1 season after five years with the Newman/Haas/Lanigan team now part of the Indy Racing League.

The axe came down after Bourdais qualified last for the German race on Saturday.

"I have a contract and it isn't for half a season," Bourdais said on Saturday. "It's terrible to have to explain and answer these questions continuously. There's nothing to it. Rumours are rumours."

Touring brothers

Brothers Nick Wittmer and Kuno Wittmer scored three podium finishes at the Canadian Touring Car championship with their Lombardi Honda Racing Civic.

Veteran Kuno earned a second and a third while Nick, after an early encounter with concrete on Friday, came back to a second place yesterday.
