NASCAR Canadian Tire Series driver JR Fitzpatrick will be at Iowa Speedway on Tuesday and Wednesday for test sessions in a NASCAR Craftsman Series truck owned by TRG Motorsports.

"This is a fantastic opportunity," said Fitzpatrick.

"Even before I got my driver's license, I wanted to race cars. To have the chance to work with a successful team like TRG Motorsports, with Kevin Buckler and Butch Hylton, is very special. It will give me the chance to learn in so many different areas. That knowledge will help me take the next step in my NASCAR career."

The 20 year-old Fitzpatrick, out of Cambridge, Ont., currently sits in seventh place in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series championship point standings. He has a win this season at Mosport International Raceway to his credit to go along with four top-five and five top-10 finishes.

In 2007, he claimed a pair of NASCAR Canadian Tire Series victories and finished sixth in the final standings. He also made his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut in 2007 in Mexico City and competed in the Montreal event, as well.

Also in 2007, he won in Edmonton as the Canadian Tire Series made its first appearance at the City Centre Airport race.

In 2006, at 18 years of age, Fitzpatrick became the youngest national stock car racing champion in Canada by winning the final championship of the CASCAR Super Series, predecessor to the Canadian Tire Series.
