Rock opt for Cornell player
By QMI Agency

TORONTO - The Toronto Rock chose Jesse Gamble from Cornell University with their first choice (17th over all) in the National Lacrosse League entry draft Wednesday night in Toronto.

With the first overall selection, the Philadelphia Wings selected forward Kevin Crowley out of Stony Brook University.

The defending champion Rock didn't have a first-round choice due to a prior trade. Toronto also chose Pete Rennie of Peterborough (26th over all), Eric Bissell (Peterborough, 35th), Kyle Davis (Brampton, 44th), Phil Rawn (Kitchener, 50th) and Mark Burnett (Mars Hill College).

Rochester used the fifth overall selection to draft Johnny Powless out of Six Nations. Also drafted from the reserve were Shane Cater (32nd), Joey Caputo (38th) and Kraig Maracle (45th). Three Brampton players were taken: Adam McGourty (22nd), Kyle Andrews (23rd) and Cal Kitson (40th).

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
