Pair of Roughnecks named all-pros
By IAN BUSBY, QMI Agency

CALGARY - The biggest question is whether the versatile Calgary Roughnecks transition player will pick up the National Lacrosse League MVP award Thursday.

On Wednesday, Shattler was named a member of the all-pro first-team, two days after winning NLL transition player of the year.

Shattler had a breakout offensive season when he moved into forward role with the Roughnecks about a month into the season.

The left-hander stuffed the stats categories, getting 29 goals, 46 assists, 93 loose balls and 12 forced turnovers.

Despite an 11-5 regular-season record, the Riggers only put one player on the first-team, while defender Mike Carnegie made the second team.

The all-pro teams feature three forwards, one transition player, one defender and one goalie, which means Carnegie was voted the league's second-best defender behind Rochester's Pat McCready, who also won defender of the year.
