EDMONTON - Forget a dish — he might as well be the main course.

At least, that’s how Edmonton Rush head coach Derek Keenan feels about goaltender Matt Disher’s importance to his team’s push towards the NLL playoffs.

“I’ve said all along with Dish, he’s been a streaky goalie all year and at this time last year he got hot again,” Keenan said, referring to an incredible 60-save performance against the Calgary Roughnecks in the franchise’s first playoff victory in 2010.

The goalie agreed.

“This is where you have to focus a bit more. When you have a lot of bad breaks earlier in the season and the team’s trying to figure out the best way to get things done, everybody has to dial it up a notch,” Disher said.

“It’s more about playing with a little bit of desperation, being a little more aggressive. I think sometimes we lay back a little too much.

“As a goalie, it’s usually a case of you going as your team goes.

“The biggest thing I find is it’s a team effort. If the defence doesn’t give them a lot of easy looks, it’s going to make it a lot easier for me.”
