McBride named Roughnecks captain
By QMI Agency

The Calgary Roughnecks named veteran defender Andrew McBride captain yesterday.

The 26-year-old takes over the position following the off-season trade of Tracey Kelusky to the Buffalo Bandits.

Forward Kaleb Toth and defender Mike Carnegie will serve as assistant captains.

McBride was originally selected by the Roughnecks in the 2002 NLL Entry Draft (second round, 14th overall) and will be going into his ninth season with the team. Playing in 15 games in 2010, McBride collected 66 loose balls and 5 points (5a).

“It is a big honor for me and I am quite humbled by it,” said McBride in a statement. “I am really excited about the opportunity to represent the Roughnecks not only on the floor but within the City of Calgary, as I know that is something the Roughnecks really pride themselves on.”
