Andrew McBride hopes to climb the mountain, and then go see one.

And, if it all works out, a five-week trip to India will cap a championship win for the Roughnecks defender.

McBride just booked the trip and will leave two days after the National Lacrosse League's Champion's Cup is awarded. The 26-year-old would like to go with a celebratory hangover.

"We're going on a 10-day hike, hopefully all the way to the Tibet border where we can see Everest," McBride said.

"I'm really excited. It's probably not a trip for the faint of heart."

Things are getting extremely busy in McBride's life.

He will graduate from the University of Calgary at the end of April and will also move in with his girlfriend.

Then the Riggers will be busy with the NLL playoffs during the month of May.

"The last few weeks have been pretty exciting," McBride said. "I've made some big decisions that will alter my life.

"Hopefully, we're capping it all off with a championship."

Despite his relatively young age, McBride has seen plenty of the world. He has gone on tours of Europe and Central America for three months each, but this one should be much different.

"With India, it should make me be appreciative of what we have here in Canada," McBride said. "Some little things that may bother you during the course of the week aren't really that important.

"The life I live and the opportunities I have, I'm pretty grateful for."
