The Colorado Mammoth's loss would be the Calgary Roughnecks gain.

Mammoth captain and leading scorer Gavin Prout was suspended one game by the National Lacrosse League yesterday for leaving the bench during a late incident in Colorado's 17-7 hammering of the Riggers Saturday at the 'Dome.

The two clubs meet again this Saturday in Denver in the opening game of the playoffs.

The Professional Lacrosse Players' Association will appeal the suspension. An NLL spokesman said a decision on the appeal would be made by an arbitrator before Saturday's tilt.

Prout finished fourth in league scoring with 29 goals and 93 points.

The Mammoth won two straight over the Roughnecks to end the regular season and go into the playoffs on a high, which would be tempered by the loss of Prout.

Calgary GM Kurt Silcott said the loss of Prout would definitely have a big impact on the game.

"Do I think it will hurt them? Of course, he's a great player," said Silcott.

"But, honestly, I want to beat them with their best lineup so there's a part of me that wants him there."
