'Necks silence Stealth

The Calgary Roughnecks were in no mood for Miller Time last night.

Despite an incredible performance by San Jose Stealth backup goaltender Brandon Miller who made

40 saves -- many of them simply incredible -- the Riggers won their second straight game and improved to a West Division-leading 8-5 with a 12-10 win over the Stealth at the 'Dome.

It was sweet revenge for a 14-13 OT loss Calgary suffered in Silicon Valley March 18.

Calgary captain Tracey Kelusky led the Riggers with a hat-trick and seven points. He was stoned several times in tight by Miller and tipped his helmet to the visiting 'tender.

"He played very well," said Kelusky, who has 13 goals in his last three games. "There's no doubt about that. I thought we played well, though, too. We were sloppy at times but

I think we played great as a team and everybody was working and we got the goals because of the continued effort we put in. We didn't get frustrated by him and just kept shooting."

The Stealth lost 11-9 at home to East Division-leading Buffalo Friday night in a physical affair and had to jet to Calgary yesterday -- losing an hour with the time-zone change -- to play the 'Necks.

To make matters worse, they were without all-star defender Jim Moss who made the trip but is still sidelined recovering from a concussion.

Miller took little consolation in his impressive performance, considering his team's disastrous 0-2 weekend that dropped them to 5-7.

"This was a big game for us," he said.

"We needed to win. So, really it's not a big deal I had a good game. We needed the win more than anything."

Kevin Dostie scored a fourth quarter hat-trick for Calgary to help secure the win. He said the Roughnecks had expected to see Stealth starter Anthony Cosmo and were caught somewhat off guard by Miller early.

"He's just a different goalie than Cosmo and we expected Cosmo," said Dostie.

"It took us a while to get him. He was on. Had we scored like we should have tonight, we would have had 20. But, hey, we solved him in the end."
