He's not called Dangerous Dan Dawson for nothing, as the Calgary Roughnecks discovered.
The Arizona Sting sniper had a goal and three assists in an 11-10 overtime victory over the Riggers last night at Glendale, Ariz.
"Dan is such a big body and he's learning the game so well," said Sting head coach Bob Hamley.
Dawson, 24, finishing second in goal-scoring last season with 48, one behind Rochester's John Grant Jr. The 6-ft. 5-in., 223-lb. sniper has four goals and eight assists in three games this campaign.
"We've talked to him about what he's going to see (this year)," Hamley said. "He has to expect maybe he's not going to get as many points as last year because a lot of teams will focus on him."
Dawson said that's fine with him.
"I'm going to be dishing a lot more and setting a lot more picks instead of driving to the net.
(I'll be drawing) those double and triple teams."
