The National Lacrosse League yesterday announced an exclusive multi-year sponsorship agreement with Reebok.
The Canton, Mass.-based company will produce helmets, gloves, footwear and jerseys for the NLL's 11 teams, starting this season. By 2007, sticks should be included as well.
All players will be required to sport only Reebok products.
Although this may be a problem for some, John Frascotti, Reebok's senior vice-president and general manager, performance group, said the company worked closely with players to develop the equipment.
"Athletes are creatures of habit until a better product comes along," Frascotti said.
Terms of the agreement were not released, but adding a corporate sponsor of Reebok's magnitude should be a boon for the league.
Reebok also produces equipment and apparel for the NHL, NBA, NFL and CFL, as well as footwear for Major League Baseball.
The Toronto Rock will kick off the 2006 season Jan. 7 against the Arizona Sting.
