If the Edmonton Rush plan on living up to the billing of 'Speed, Power and Finesse' they've chosen quite the symbol to assist in their promotional strategy.

The expansion National Lacrosse League franchise announced yesterday that Orange County Choppers, the notorious brand behind the TV show American Chopper, will create a customized motorcycle for the team.

The motorcycle, which is valued at over $100,000 US, will be unveiled at the home opener Jan. 6.

It will be the first Orange County Chopper made for a Canadian sports team following previous renditions manufactured for the New York Yankees, New York Jets and the Kansas City Royals.

Rush majority owner Bruce Urban and president Duane Vienneau commissioned the project by Paul Teutul Sr. and Jr. and recently visited the New York shop to plan the look of the bike which will include the Rush colours of black and silver and team logos.

"We wanted to give a signature to the team in Edmonton which we thought would show strength, character and attitude," said Urban. "An Orange County Chopper is a statement."

The Rush have sold over 2,500 season tickets in Rexall Place's lower bowl. They will give away a trip for two to New York to visit the OCC shop, along with three mini-replicas of the chopper to season-ticket holders on opening night.
