The Edmonton Rush will get a crack at shooting down the San Jose Stealth in their National Lacrosse League debut.

Edmonton's expansion entry in the NLL opens its first campaign Jan. 6 at Rexall Place against San Jose. The Rush's 16-game schedule includes a home-and-home series with the Calgary Roughnecks over the following two weeks - Jan. 13 at the Saddledome and Jan. 21 here.

All of the Rush's home games are on Friday or Saturday nights.

"We're very happy about having those two games early in the season to really build our rivalry," said Rush president Duane Vienneau.

"(Head coach/GM) Paul Day told me it is one of the toughest expansion-team schedules he's seen in a long time.

"But we like that our final three games are all against Portland so the expansion teams will be going at it, maybe for a playoff spot, which will get that rivalry going."
