Sting stuns the skeptics

The Arizona Sting are now only one game away from doing what many thought impossible at the start of the season -- winning the NLL championship.

The Sting overcame four big deficits last night to beat the defending NLL champion Calgary Roughnecks at the 'Dome.

While most pundits expected the Sting to be much improved this season, few, if any, expected them to make it to the Champion's Cup final.

The Sting will face the Toronto Rock at the Air Canada Centre May 14 for all the marbles.

Sting forward Dan Dawson said his club is just fine with the underdog role.

"We'll take that role, we're great with that," he said. "We have a lot of guys in this room who don't get a lot of respect. The organization believed in a lot of us and we only have one more game to win to take it all."

Dawson said just making the playoffs, which they did for the first time in franchise history this season, was merely the first step.

"You look around this room and we have a lot of character," said Dawson. "We always believed we could get here. We never stopped believing since training camp. We had 23 guys who believed we could do it."
