ARIZONA STING 19, CALGARY ROUGHNECKS 15

SUN THREE STARS:

1. F Dan Dawson, Sting -- Was once again a thorn in the side of the Roughnecks with four markers.

2. F Tracey Kelusky, Roughnecks -- The captain wouldn't give up but his four goals weren't enough.

3. F Craig Conn, Sting -- Followed a five-goal West semifinal game with a four-goal performance last night.

GOAL OF THE GAME:

Charging the Roughnecks crease, Sting F Lindsay Plunkett squeezed between two Calgary defenders and put a perfect high shot over G Curtis Palidwor.

HIT OF THE GAME:

Calgary D Brad MacDonald laid the body on Sting F Craig Conn so hard it knocked his helmet off.

SAVE OF THE GAME:

Sting F Pat Maddalena takes a deep feed with his team down by three in the third but couldn't convert as Rigs G Curtis Palidwor stood tall and shut the door on the breakaway.

UNSUNG HERO:

Sting F Pat Maddalena silenced the crowd with a late goal -- his second of the game -- to thwart a Roughnecks rally.

FIGHT CARD:

No gloves were dropped but Riggers D Rich Catton scuffled with Sting D Bruce Codd, sending both players to the box.

WHAT IT MEANS:

The Arizona Sting will play in its inaugural Champion's Cup game May 14 versus the Toronto Rock (1:30 p.m., NBC, The Score). Calgary's season is over.
