The Toronto Rock will play host to an all-star weekend of lacrosse next year.
The National Lacrosse League will hold a news conference Sunday at the Air Canada Centre, before the Rock plays host to the Philadelphia Wings, to announce its 2006 all-star game will be held at the Air Canada Canada Centre next year on Saturday Feb. 25.
While details of the weekend have not been finalized, there is a strong possibility the Rock will play host to a regular season game on the eve of the all-star game. That Feb. 24 game could be the NLL's inaugural Hall of Fame game. The NLL is examining the possibility of creating its own Hall of Fame before next season, with the first inductees to be honoured on all-star weekend in Toronto.
The Rock is expected to include the all-star game in its season-ticket package next year.
Meanwhile, the Rock (10-3) can wrap up first overall in the NLL and home-floor advantage throughout the playoffs with one win in its final three games -- tomorrow in Philly, Sunday against the Wings at the ACC or April 17 in Calgary against the Roughnecks. If Toronto finishes first overall, it will play host to the East Division final April 29 at the ACC. The NLL championship game is May 14.
