Unfortunately for the Toronto Rock, its professor's teaching duties will prevent him from playing lacrosse next week. All-star defender Glenn (The Professor) Clark, a teacher at Bayview Secondary School in Richmond Hill, couldn't get approval to take a day off Friday so he could fly to Anaheim for the Rock's game against the Storm next Sunday.

"You kind of have to pick your spots and battles," Clark said after the Rock (5-3) lost 14-12 to the Buffalo Bandits on Friday at the Air Canada Centre. "I'm don't know whether to battle this one because I'm going to need time off later.

"I'm a little bit upset, but it's hard because it's my job. You have mixed emotions."

The game against the last-place Storm (2-6) originally was scheduled for next Saturday, but was pushed back earlier this season. The Rock books its flights well in advance of the season and couldn't change this one when the schedule shift was announced.

Clark also missed the first two games of the season because of a knee injury.

"It's tough," he said. "You're part of a professional team and you can't get off work to play."
