Most lacrosse pundits figured this would be Dan Dawson's breakout year.
The big 6-ft. 5-in., 218-lb. forward has done his best to make them all look prophetic.
Heading into this week, Dawson, a righty, was fourth in league scoring with 46 points in eight games and second in goals with 28, only two behind Rochester's John Grant Jr.
The 24-year-old Dawson, a native of Oakville, Ont., is averaging 5.75 points a game this year, his fourth season in the NLL. Over his first three seasons, Dawson racked up 132 points in 43 games.
His numbers this season led to Dawson being voted a starter for the West Division squad.
Sting head coach Bob Hamley said Dawson's burgeoning play has been a boon for his club.
"We're ecstatic to see the way Dan is playing," said Hamley. "We have a legitimate superstar on our team now, which is exciting. He's become one of our leaders and he's just having a huge year for us."
