The racing gods that have, in various ways, kept the Triple Crown safe since 1978 may ultimately have a say in what goes down at Baltimore’s Pimlico Race Course on Saturday afternoon.

But trainer Shug McGaughey has the only candidate that can capture the Crown this year and believes he has the horse power to do so.

The New York-based trainer was a popular first-time winner of the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago when his three-year-old colt Orb splashed through the mud to pass more than a dozen horses to capture the first jewel.
