F1 balking on Canadian GP
Ecclestone says deal in jeopardy

MONTREAL -- The head of Formula One has set a 10-day window to decide whether or not there will be an F1 Grand Prix race in Montreal next year.

Losing patience with the slowly-progressing negotiations to stop the race from being pulled from the 2010 calendar, Bernie Ecclestone wants answers to his questions soon. If he doesn't get what he's looking for, Ecclestone said he will be forced to yank the Montreal race from the schedule.

"When I come back from Japan next week, I'm going to need final answers to all of our questions," Ecclestone said from Japan. "If I don't have them, there won't be a Grand Prix in Montreal.

Since the race was pulled from the 2009 F1 calendar, Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal have been trying to reach a financial agreement with Ecclestone that would allow the race to be held on Ile Notre-Dame next year.

The race, which is tentatively on the 2010 calendar for the time being, is supposed to take place June 13. Though he is beginning to doubt that the race will take place in Montreal next year, Ecclestone still has a bit of hope.

"We're still trying to reach (an agreement)," he said. "But I'm no longer very confident. We have waited to have all of the answers. We can't wait much longer."
