HALIFAX -- He missed the net.
Sam Gagner, who sat on the bench for the first two periods of his first Team Canada appearance at the IIHF World Championship, was given five shifts and 4:23 of ice time in the third period of Canada's 8-2 win over Norway and missed a glorious chance to score.
The youngest player in the NHL at 18 years old this past season, Gagner had the puck on his stick and an empty net to shoot at and fired wide.
"Obviously I was a little anxious," he laughed. "It didn't matter in the big scheme of things. It was great to get in and create some things. It was a lot of fun."
