The matchup

AL STRACHAN -- Toronto Sun

, Last Updated: 8:56 AM ET

STRENGTHS

Canada: It has arguably the best forward line in the tournament in Rick Nash, Joe Thornton and Simon Gagne, and best goaltending in Martin Brodeur. Kris Draper and Kirk Maltby probably are the best penalty-killing duo in the world.

Czech Republic: The line of Jaromir Jagr, Martin Straka and Vaclav Prospal has been dangerous. The defence is capable of playing any style.

WEAKNESSES

Canada: The defence lacks a genuine do-it-all defenceman along the lines of Chris Pronger. Coach Marc Habscheid has done well running junior teams, but this is his first real test at this level.

Czech Republic: No major weaknesses, but goaltender Tomas Vokoun is no Dominik Hasek. The Czech defence has no one player who can dominate.

Edge: Canada
