Swiss and Canadian players battle for puck at women's world championship

OTTAWA - After struggling to get their offence going Tuesday, Canada's women's hockey team had no trouble scoring against Switzerland Wednesday night.

Canada scored early and often en route to a 13-0 win in the second game for both teams at the women's world championship at Scotiabank Place.

Canada started much better than it did against the Americans when the home side surrendered two goals in the first period. Canada came out guns-a-blazing on Wednesday, firing 28 shots on Swiss goaltender Sophie Anthamatten, who was left hanging by her teammates on numerous occasions.

The Swiss players seemed lost in their own zone for most of the period, allowing Canada to capitalize on two of its multiple scoring chances to end the period up 2-0.

While Canadian goaltender Charline Labonte didn't get too much action, facing just 10 shots all period, she still had to be sharp. Despite the lack of quality Swiss scoring chances, the visitors were able to take advantage of some defens
