OTTAWA - Wearing a yellow jersey, as she glided along the ice surface in a back corner of the Bell Sensplex, away from her teammates, Hayley Wickenheiser had a bit of a twinkle in her eye.

It's the look and feeling champions get when they get another opportunity to become champions again.

And Wickenheiser is a champion, an icon and poster-girl for women's hockey in Canada.

Sidelined since March 9 with a knee injury, Wickenheiser declared she will be ready to go for next week's women's world championship in Ottawa.

"I hadn't skated for a few days, so it's nice to get out and test it a little bit," said Wickenheiser, 34. "There's always concern anytime you hurt your knee ... you don't know how bad it is."
