Hockey Canada goes to Church
By MIKE KOREEN, QMI Agency

OTTAWA - Hockey Canada named Dan Church coach of the national women’s team for the next two seasons at a press conference Wednesday at Scotiabank Place.

The coach of Toronto’s York University Lions, Church will guide Canada at the 2013 world championship April 2-9 in Ottawa and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Church coached Canada to gold at the 2012 world championship in April in Burlington, Vt.

“We plan to keep building on our world championship win in Burlington by becoming a faster, stronger team and achieving even more success on international ice," Church said.

One of Church’s assistants will be University of Calgary coach Danielle Goyette, a former national team player.

The world women’s championship will be back in Ottawa for the first time since the inaugural women’s worlds in 1990.

The Vancouver Canucks should replace ex-coach Alain Vigneault with...
  Guy Boucher.
  Lindy Ruff.
  Andy Murray.
  Jacques Martin.
  Brent Sutter.
  Don Hay.
  Other.
